Our Story
About eight years ago, God brought a group of ten women of different ages and backgrounds together through a local church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. This group of ten all carried the same vision: to see women of all ages be known more fully by other women of all ages, breaking through generational barriers, and ultimately growing deeper in our faith together.
Very quickly it became evident that this was a desire held by women in other churches and outside the church as well. We loved it when women outside of our local church began volunteering on the team and at the events.
We started with Gatherings, which included testimonies, worship, prayer and food in settings of unique creativity and beauty (like the heart of our Father). From the beginning, we’ve always wanted to be intentional with elements designed to appeal to each generation, and have always loved creating beautiful spaces for women to gather and experience God.
As time went on and we expanded in our initiatives aiming to connect women, we defined the three pillars of Sisterhood: Gather, Empower, and Mobilize. Though we had our Gather events already, Empower events began to take place in the form of bible studies and prayer groups, and even some training sessions like writing and speaker summits. Mobilizing women to give back was also important, leading us to connect with local and global missions and community groups to put our faith in action.
In 2019, we left the comfort of being nestled under the umbrella of the local church and branched out, first as Sisterhood YXE, but then as Sisterhood Ministries Canada Inc. with the intention of connecting beyond our city and province with our movement.
We feel blessed, privileged, committed, compelled, and honoured to carry on connecting women to women, discipling and growing each generation in faith, courage, love, and resilience. Thank you for exploring Sisterhood this far already; we hope we can connect more with you soon!
